Wasps In Winter
Wasps in winter die as a result of starvation from food being very scarce if they can find any food at all, they also do very poorly in the cold. Only  some fertilised queen wasps will survive by hibernating for the following year when they will begin building their own nests. The queens will hibernate in places such as under tree bark or in a rotten log. Its not a surprise that wasps die during the winter as during the summer period when they are at a high, they retreat to their nest of an evening to escape the colder nights.
