Blue Wasps
Blue wasps refers to the Blue Mud wasp or Chalybion californicum. The blue wasp is a solitary wasp who can be found in an old ground dwelling yellow jacket nest that has been abandoned. The nest of the blue wasps will contain many paralyzed spiders that are used for the blue wasps offspring to feed on. Their main source of food is the black widow spider making the blue spider rather beneficial as the black widow spider is very dangerous. While being beneficial, they can also be a pain as they often nest very close to doorways and windows.
