Big Wasps
Big wasps are commonly called hornets with ordinary wasps being wasps. These are generic names for them, as they all have scientific names. An ordinary wasp such as the yellow jacket wasp will grow to a length of around 1 to 2 centimetres. A hornet being a big wasp can grow as large as 3 centimetres long. They are also a slightly different colour from the yellow jackets that are black and yellow. Hornets are more of a brown colour with orangey yellow markings. Big wasps such as hornets and wasps are much the same in the way they live and how they live. In the UK hornets are rare and normally found in the south amongst dense woodlands. Big wasps such as the hornets make a much deeper and louder buzz as they fly. They also have a reputation for being very aggressive when in fact they are more docile than most other species of wasps.
