Michigan Spiders identification - what does it look like?
Black Widow spider:

• Is a shine black colour

• With a red hourglass shaped marking on the underside of her rounded abdomen
• Many females also have an orange or red patch above their spinnerets on the top side of their abdomen

Brown Recluse spider:

• These spiders can be a brown, grey or even a very deep yellow colour

• Also, they usually have markings on their dorsal side of their cephalothrax, with a black line pointing to the rear of the spider that looks like a violin neck.

Are Michigan Spiders poisonous?
All types (except Uloboridae) are poisonous! Both the Black Widow and Brown Recluse spiders venom is of medical significance. If bitten by either spider, medical help should be sought after. Venom from either of these spiders can cause the likes of:

• Muscle aches

• Nausea
• Paralysis of the diaphragm
• Severe dermonecrotic lesions
• Sometimes severe systemic symptoms

How big is the Michigan Spiders?
The Black widow spider: can grow to be 38 millimetres long and have a diameter of 6.4 millimetres.
Brown Recluse Spider: can be between 6 to 20 millimetres and also grow bigger in some cases.

What is the average life span of the Michigan Spiders?
The Black Widow spider lives between 1 and 3 years with the Brown Recluse spider living on average for a year and a half with very few living over 2 years.

Does the Michigan Spiders have good eyesight?
Both the Black Widow spider and Brown Recluse spider have very poor eyesight and rely on their keen sense of vibration.
