Funnel Web Spider identification - what do they look like?
Funnel web spiders are long and are roughly oval in shape, their legs are long, slender and bristly with the eyes being very small and occur in two horizontal rows of four. They have a pair of spinnerets used to make their webs protruding from the tip of their abdomen, with the backs of these spiders distinctively striped or patterned in browns or greys. Sydney funnel wed spiders are a medium sized spider with a body size ranging from 2cm to 7cm. They are a dark colour and glossy, they range from blue-black to black to brown or a dark-plum colour. Their carapace covering their cephalothoraxes is almost hairless and appears smooth and glossy.
